Federico is our favourite moustache guy from Italy. He snowboards, surfs, wakesurfs, skateboards, climbs.. He is also a snowboard and wakesurf instructor and an absolute boardsports enthusiast. You'll find out more about him and his action lifestyle in the following interview!
Hey Federico, how is it goin' these days?
Where should I start? :) It's been a tough year and it's almost the anniversary of a year without work. It has been an up and down ride but I have been trying to always stay positive and to keep rocking. I had the opportunity to explore nature and be in a new relationship with the mountains. I tried to look at the bright side of this situation and turn my free time into an opportunity to explore the unseen and keep me trained.
Tell us something about yourself, please.
I am an italian snowboard instructor with a strong passion for all the action and mountain sports. I try to live my best life doing what I love, that's why I made snowboarding my full time job. During winter time I usually live between Madesimo and Livigno (in the alps), and during summer time I live on lake Como, trying to always surf a line or a wave all year long.
And what are you doing during the summer time?
During summer time I am a wakesurf instructor on lake Como since I can't live without a board under my feet! It's a good training for all the boards lovers!
How is the situation in Italy right now, are the ski resorts open?
The situation is still on hold, the mountain world is complitely freezed and ski resorts are still closed since last year. We were hoping to start the season on January but the opening date kept to be postponed and now it's almost over.
As a snowboard instructor, what are you doing instead of teaching kids right now?
I am actually living the best season of the last ten years, it has been one for the books in terms of snow and powder days. Luckily I live close to Switzerland, where ski resorts are open so I also had the chance to explore new mountains and, while we were not in a strict lockdown, I enjoyed the skitouring in Italy and discovered new spots where skilift can't reach. Of course I miss my job more than ever and I can't wait to get back to my mini snowboarders.
What's your favourite thing about being a snowboard instructor?
To have an open air office and to see my clients improving their snowboard skills and to share my passion to the mountains and nature with them.
From your Instagram it's obvious that you are an active guy - you're snowboarding, surfing, wake surfing, skateboarding, climbing.. If, for any reason, you have to pick just ONE of these activities that you'd be doing for the rest of your life, which one it would be and why?
I would definitely pick SNOWBOARDING, you know, you never forget your first love.
Alright, how about you and Horsefeathers? How did this coop start?
I started my collab thanks to Fabrizio Giusto, from Woodmorning distribution, who offered me this opportunity and introduced me to the HF world three years ago. I am honored to be part of the HF family and I couldn't be more proud to represent a brand with high values and with the aim to preserve nature and respect it!
How are you satisfied with the HF products?
I am very satisfied with the gears and I think it has the best quality/price feature in the snowboard market and I am really proud to wear a brand founded by the ones who made the snowboard history great!

CRESCENT JACKET AND GROOVER PANTS is my favorite combo!

I really miss our sales meeting and reunions, I hope this emergency will end soon so we can finally hang out again and have a beer day together!
