Šimon Kokeš, Matej Šrail, and Adéla Kokešová – these are the names of our new junior bike team riders. In this article, we bring you interviews with these talented young riders who shared with us their beginnings, achievements, and future plans. Discover what led them to biking, the disciplines they focus on, their favorite training spots, and their biggest goals.
Hi, could you briefly introduce yourselves, please?
Šimon: I am Šimon Kokeš, I am 13 years old, and I come from Slapy in the Czech Republic.
Matej: My name is Matej Šrail, I am 16 years old, and I am from Stříbrná, near Kraslice in the Czech Republic.
Adéla: My name is Adéla Kokešová, I come from Slapy, Czech republic and I am 11 years old.
How and when did you get into biking?
Šimon: I've been riding a bike since I was little. I started when I was about 4-5 years old and began competing when I was 7-8 years old.
Matej: My dad introduced me to it from a young age. I participated in my first race when I was about 9-10 years old.
Adéla: Since I was little, I rode bike with my dad and began competing when I was 6 or 7.
Which bike discipline do you focus on?
Šimon: I ride enduro, but lately, I've also started to get into downhill a bit.
Matej: I mainly ride enduro, and whenever I have time, I enjoy riding downhill as well.
Adéla: I ride and compete in the enduro discipline.
Do you have a "home spot" where you usually train?
Šimon: I ride all over the Czech Republic, but the closest place is probably Slapy. I also really like the Ore Mountains and Liberec.
Matej: We have a few trails right behind my house that my friends and I built, so I ride there most often. There's also a nearby trail park called Saporo.
Adéla: Brdy and Slapy in Czech republic.
What is your biggest achievement in biking so far?
Šimon: Probably that I finished in 3rd place twice in a row at Blinduro.
Matej: Two years ago, I won the Czech Enduro Series overall in my category, so I’d say that’s my biggest achievement.
Adéla: First place in the Czech Enduro Series, which I won this year in the "Women 15+" category.
What are your plans for this bike season?
Šimon: To participate in the entire Czech Enduro Series and the Blinduro Fall event.
Matej: This year, I want to compete in the Czech Cup, and next year, I'd like to race in some international events, like in Austria.
Adéla: To ride the entire Czech Enduro Series and Blinduro.
Do you have a goal you want to achieve in biking?
Šimon: I would like to ride in the World Cup.
Matej: I aim to be in the top 10 at the World Cup.
Adéla: I would like to win the entire Czech Enduro Series.
Do you have any role models in biking?
Šimon: On the local scene, it's probably Jakub Říha, and internationally, it's Richi Rude.
Matej: My big role models are Jackson Goldstone and my dad, who started with motocross and then switched to enduro.
Adéla: From the Czech Republic, it is Jakub Říha, and from abroad, it is Isabeau Courdurier from France.
How do you like the cooperation with Horsefeathers so far?
Šimon: It's great, I'm really happy about it. This is my first cooperation, and it's awesome.
Matej: I'm very satisfied, and I really enjoy the HF bike gear. It's fantastic.
Adéla: It's awesome. I really like HF bike gear, it's great to ride in.
